Reminders

1.    Family Day will be June 3^rd from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m.

There will be a picnic in which parents need to bring a healthy lunch to eat with their children and a blanquet to put on the floor.

2.    Walking for Water takes place tomorrow Friday 9^th May. Children need to come to school wearing their P.e uniform.

3.    Book Week starts on Monday 12^th May. The costume parade will take place on Thursday 15^th. Children in 4^th grade need to come dressed as any of the characters of the books with been reading.

They can choose from the following books:

-         Sleep over

-         Crummy, Mummy and me

-         Bill’s New Frock

-         James the giant peache

-         Iron Man

-         Super Fudge

Water Homework Project.

Due in: Wednesday 14th May

Introduction

The following is a project to be completed at home whilst you study the IPC topic, Water for Everyone. There are several tasks which you can do in any order choosing how you would like to approach each one. The project should be completed by May 14th, on Friday 2nd and 9th your teacher will ask you to share your progress on the project so far. You can choose how much or little you do of the project each night but you should complete some of the tasks each week, just remember your deadlines!

Your objective

To be able to explain, compare and justify your views on using water clearly and interestingly to an audience.

Activities

Record yours and your families water usage at home to show how much water you use in a week. Think carefully about and include all the activities that use water; taking a shower, brushing teeth, washing dishes…….and lots more!

How will you record this? How will you measure the water used?

Once you have the number of litres used in a week work out how much water you use in one week and one year. What is the average water use for one day?

You may wish to make tables and graphs either by hand or on the computer or illustrate your water use or in any other way you like!

Research and compare your use of water to that of someone in the developing world. Decide on a way to show the differences and similarities in your water usage.

You may wish to make a poster, write a comparative description, make a short video or presentation…….it’s up to you!

Do we have a responsibility to use water wisely or doesn’t it matter? Decide on a way to present your view on this. Consider and research such factors as:

·  Climate change

·  Pollution

·  Energy costs

·  Rising Population

Again, how you do it is your choice!
